Charity & Community

Relief is one of the three great principles we are sworn to practice.

Freemasons are taught to practice Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, and of these, Relief is the one the world sees. From our corner of Tarrytown, Solomon's Lodge has long extended its charity to neighbors near and far.

We are a fraternity, not a club. Our purpose is to make good men better, and a lodge that makes better men makes a better town.

Close to Home

In Our Community

What the Brethren have actually done for Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Masonic Education

Ongoing educational, historical, and esoteric lectures within the lodge. A working mind is the first tool of a working Mason.

Scholarships

Two $750 scholarship checks awarded to local high-school students pursuing higher education, alongside scholarships supporting the children of our own members.

Suit Drive with Hudson Link

In partnership with Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison, the Brethren donated more than 40 suits, helping men step into interviews, graduations, and new lives with dignity.

Local Youth

Two bicycles donated in support of a local high school initiative encouraging students to put down their electronics and get outdoors.

First Responders

Annual donations to our local fire departments, ambulance corps, and EMS: the neighbors who answer the call at any hour.

U.S. Flag Retirement

A year-round, no-cost service for the community: worn American flags retired with dignity. Learn how it works →

…and beyond these, the lodge lends its hand to local nonprofit initiatives throughout the river towns as needs arise.

Part of Something Larger

Statewide Masonic Charity

Our local giving connects to the great institutions of the Grand Lodge of the State of New York, among the most significant charitable works of any fraternity in America.

"Avoiding all sectarian and political division, Freemasonry extends its charity to all Mankind."

— On the Principles of the Craft

Relief Begins with Good Men

The lodge's charity is only as strong as the Brethren who carry it. If service speaks to you, consider joining us.
